Trash Free Seas Alliance Meetings Begin Today

The first annual Trash Free Seas Alliance meeting, hosted by the Ocean Conservancy, kicks off today in Laguna Niguel, California, USA, bringing together some of the most influential industry leaders representing McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, Starbucks, Wal-Mart, and The Walt Disney Company. For two days, leaders will talk strategy and solutions. We’re particularly excited about the meeting because Plastic Pollution Coalition Executive Director Daniella Dimitrova Russo will also be there, representing our global alliance committed to ending plastic pollution.

These types of meetings are often the beginning of long-term change, as Steven Berlin Johnson, one of the event speakers, notes in his work.

What would you like to see come out of these meetings? What sorts of initiatives do you think major corporations should propose to reduce marine debris and plastic pollution? How can environmental groups and manufacturers work together to solve the plastic pollution crisis?
