Trash Patch: Ghost Net[works] Environmental Art Installation


Ghost nets are fishing nets that have been lost, discarded, or simply abandoned at sea. They continually fish as they move on unattended through the waters; swallowing indiscriminately not only marine species but anything that floats in their way: glass bottles, driftwood, construction debris and most specially plastic of every size, shape and color, from whole barrels to tiny specs. As they grow in size, they continually roam the oceans of the world riding within gyres currents until they eventually sink or wash up in some random shore.
